Legal Aid

Section 12 of the 2006 Act requires the Board to assign a legal representative to every patient whose detention is the subject of review by the Board, unless the patient proposes to engage a legal representative at their own expense. To this end, the Board put in place the Mental Health (Criminal Law) Legal Aid Scheme 2006.
